The really scary thing about the VET isn't the inconvenience or the $11.00. It is the precedent it sets.

When the VET started you had to drive in get robbed of $6.00 and have your tail pipe probed. Now they steel $11.00 and get in your car while they probe your tail pipe.

What happens when the powers that be decide that the air is still not good enough? Will we have our chimneys probed at our homes? I'm sure that won't be enough. Next they will have to come inside our home to check our furnaces.
