We all know this country is a mess and is heading in the wrong direction, so what can we do about it? We can, and must, do plenty!
First, while our country is headed in a totalitarian direction, we are not there yet. We still have a voice and a vote, and we need to use them. We need to support candidates who respect the Constitution and American values. Support them with money, and work for their campaigns. And once they are elected, we need to provide continued support and guidance. We are very fortunate that Matt Bevin was elected Governor of Kentucky, but he will need help. We need to elect more people to the state legislature who will support his efforts – especially in the Kentucky House of Representatives. We also need to elect a President of the United States who will be a strong force toward righting the ship of state.
Second, we need to talk to people about American values and their importance. In order to do that, we need to educate ourselves, and we need to learn to ask questions. If someone says he or she supports Hillary for president, or supports raising the minimum wage, ask why. Then listen to the answer. Maybe you share that person’s concerns. If so, say so, and explain how American values will do a better job of satisfying those concerns.
Third, seek the truth, and speak the truth. Do not allow yourself to be silenced by political correctness or other pressures. Be pleasant, but do not go along with the crowd when the crowd is going the wrong way.
Fourth, have faith in God, and pray a lot. If we can align ourselves with the will of our Creator, we will be much stronger and will have a much greater chance for success. This country was founded on Judeo-Christian values. We need to restore those values if we are to restore the greatness of our country and restore a sense of meaning and purpose in people’s lives.
Fifth, join with like-minded people. This is a big, endless job, and we need to pull together and support one another in the effort.
Happy New Year!
