National political office has been a very lucrative ‘industry’ for those who’ve managed to get into that ‘elite’ club. Regardless of party affiliation, both parties bribe each other with taxpayer money. Or, they blackmail each other whenever they can.
All too often, with business this ‘usual’, liberty-busting legislative acts come to pass, sans merit, promoted from on high with flawed reasoning, and sorely not in keeping with common sense….or the Constitution.
This is how ‘things get done’ in Washington, and why things have gotten so screwed up for the rest of the country. How ironic it is, that so much institutionalized corruption should be conducted in that place named for one of the most honest, honorable, and (formerly?) revered men in all of American history.
Nevertheless, the serious schemers have it all figured out, how to exchange money in ever-more-clever ways (under the table & below the radar) for political favors. Most on both sides are there primarily to scheme how to stay there, whatever it takes, to continue to feed at the world’s most lucrative money & influence trough.
In political Washington, money soon becomes more than merely money. Money becomes the critical ingredient, the prescription to political Power, any serious politician’s aphrodisiac. Money begets power, and power becomes the almost irresistible route to more and more of each, while the rest of the country gets to take it in the shorts.
Only….Donald Trump is now the proverbial fly in the ointment, the wild card, the loose cannon, the uncontrollable unknown. Trump could possibly, finally, become their well-deserved comeuppance, and a bunch of former schemers might become disgraced, ridden out of Washington on a rail, or put in jail even. So much is at stake for the schemers, Donald Trump better have some serious security around him. Seriously.
With a Trump presidency, the eternal ‘party’ very well might be broken up, albeit temporarily, as the Founders so well knew of human nature….and the nature of humans vested with the Power of Government.
And, so, both sides are about to have a stroke over Trump’s electoral chances. They feel the same way toward Cruz, and for the same reasons, only Cruz trumps Trump ten times over.
Ted Cruz is the real deal, America. Vote like you mean to bust up the eternal ‘party’, because it’s way past time that particular ‘party’ was over.
“We are either a United people, or we are not. If the former, let us, in all matters of general concern act as a nation, which have national objects to promote, and a national character to support. If we are not, let us no longer act a farce by pretending to it.” …..George Washington.
