Romney acceptance speech -”President Obama promised to slow the rise of the oceans, and heal the planet. I promise to help you and your family.”
Clint Eastwood - What do you mean, shut up? …I’m not gonna shut up. It’s my turn….I can’t tell Mitt to do that. He can’t do that to himself….You’re getting as bad as Biden… the intellect of the Democratic party…kind of a grin with a body behind it…You could still use the plane, though maybe a smaller one, not that big gas guzzler…I can’t do that to myself either….We own this country…Politicians are employees of ours…When somebody does not do the job, we gotta let ‘em go. — (Full transcript of Eastwood remarks can be found here.)
(Editor’s note: I have watched this a few times, and it just gets better each time. Clint Eastwood may have seemed to be bungling, but this was a phenomenal performance.) See also some “empty chair day” photos.
Artur Davis - Former Democratic Rep from Alabama who had put Obama’s name in nomination for President in the 2008 Democratic convention but now has changed his mind. Davis is a black conservative and a Harvard graduate. Very interesting speech! - America is a champion that has absorbed some blows, but we bend; we do not break. This is no dark hour. This is the dawn before we remember who we are. …2009-2011, Lesson learned. 2012, Mistake corrected.
Romney’s fellow church members, Pat and Ted Oparowski, Parents of boy who died of cancer, whom Romney had befriended
Rand Paul – Senator from KY When I heard the current president say, “You didn’t build that,” I was first insulted, then I was angered, then I was saddened — that anyone in our country, much less the president of the United States, believes that roads create business success and not the other way around!”
Susana Martinez – Governor of NM …a former Democrat: “Before I ran for district attorney, two Republicans invited my husband and me to lunch. And I knew a party-switch was exactly what they wanted. So, I told Chuck, we’ll be polite, enjoy a free lunch and then say goodbye. But we talked about issues — they never used the words Republican, or Democrat, conservative or liberal. We talked about many issues, like welfare — is it a way of life, or a hand-up? Talked about the size of government — how much should it tax families and small businesses? And when we left that lunch, we got in the car and I looked over at Chuck and said, ‘I’ll be damned, we’re Republicans.’”
Mayor Mia Love from Utah her interesting biography is here. Here parents came to the US from Haiti with $10 in their pocket. She grew up in Connecticut. As a conservative, black Mormon from Utah, she offers an interesting perspective.
Condoleezza Rice - former Secretary of State
Mike Huckabee - former governor of Arkansas
Rick Santorum - former Senator from PA
