Uniting Americans

By Theresa Camoriano

When President Obama was running for office, he promised to be the great uniter.  Unfortunately, he has proven to be just the opposite.  Instead of trying to unite Americans and get us to pull together during these difficult times, he has done everything within his power to encourage divisions among the people – between rich and poor, men and women, black and white.  Instead of taking responsibility for the results of his actions, he has pointed the finger at others, scapegoating them and encouraging Americans to blame them for their problems.

It may be politically advantageous to tell various groups of people that they are being victimized and need you to protect them, or to point the finger at others and blame them for all your problems and failures in order to avoid taking responsibility yourself, but it is extremely corrosive to the fabric of our society and extremely dangerous.  Anyone who really cared about the well-being of the country would not do it.

Anyone who was responsible would not have used the killing of the black teenager in Florida to enflame racial hostility and tell black youths that they are victims.  Instead, a responsible adult would call for calm and insist that the facts be uncovered and the system be allowed to work and then watch to make sure that happened.  But the race hustlers and the dividers, including President Obama, have an agenda to foment hostility between the races, and they have used this incident to promote that agenda – ignoring the facts or twisting them to suit their cause.

Telling Americans that they are being victimized by rich people is similarly harmful and destructive, again encouraging hostility and violence.

A lot of innocent people will be harmed by this irresponsible behavior, just as the young Jewish man was killed in New York thanks to the race hustling of the Rev. Sharpton.

The fact is that we are all in this mess together, and we need to pull together.  We must not allow the politicians, race hustlers, and others who want to divide us succeed.

There are even some people who want to see blood in the streets, because they believe it will allow them to collapse the system and usher in their “utopia”.  (See the Cloward and Piven strategy as an example.)  They don’t care who gets hurt.  Like the Communists in the 20th century, they have no problem with “breaking a few eggs” in order to make an omelet.

The trouble is that the “eggs” they break are real, flesh and blood human beings whose lives are valuable.  Every single human life is valuable and should be respected, regardless of the person’s color, income level, or gender.  I thought that was what the civil rights movement was all about, but now it has been perverted into promoting a sense of victimhood and promoting anger against innocent people.

If we allow this scapegoating and promotion of divisiveness to continue, with various groups of people being denounced and dehumanized, the results will not be pretty.

We need to speak out against it and not tolerate it.

Where is the outcry against the New Black Panthers putting a bounty on the person who shot the black teenager?  Is lynching now acceptable as long as the victim is white?  What happened to being innocent until proven guilty?  What happened to the rule of law and trial by jury?

The constant drumbeat in the media that conservatives are anti-black, anti-woman, anti-gay, and so forth is simply a lie.  Just look at the evidence that is provided to support the claims – it doesn’t exist.  Since there is no real evidence, we are told that conservatives use code words to promote their bigotry.  Normal people can’t recognize the code words, but conservatives can.  Really?

Could it possibly be that when we oppose a policy of this administration it is because we oppose the policy and think it will harm the country, not because the President is black and we are a bunch of bigots?

We are even told that silence is a code word.   Or we are told that someone almost said something bigoted.  It is ridiculous, disgusting, and dehumanizing.  But it does serve a political purpose.

The fact is that conservatives want to protect the life, liberty and property of every human being.  We want every person to be treated with respect and no person of any race, income level, or gender to be abused or mistreated.  We want people to be allowed to seek their own happiness in their own way, without being harassed by the government or anyone else.

We don’t need a President or Supreme Court justice who thinks the law should be applied differently depending upon your race or gender or income level.  We don’t need people in authority to favor one race, gender or income level above another or to engage in scapegoating.  We need people in authority who show equal respect to every person.

That’s why we have elections.  We’d better turn things around in the next election, or else get ready for the natural fallout that will result from the hatred that is being spewed by the hustlers.
