Public service
Public Service – The phrase “public service” often is used to mean working for the government. However, it literally means to serve the public, and it might be suggested that the people who provide the greatest service to the public really are those who work in the private sector. After all, private businesses can survive only if they provide goods or services that people are willing to buy on a voluntary basis. By contrast, government workers are paid by means of money taken from people by force in the form of taxes. Due to the difference in the way their money is obtained, the incentive to provide good service to the public is greater for people in the private sector than for people who work for the government.
