Update on March 9 Patriot Stampede in Frankfort KY

The very unfortunate thing about the way our State government works is you do not find out certain things until the night before, such as committee meetings being held. The House Elections committee is supposed to meet every Tuesday. However; it was canceled last week, and apparently this week as well. On top of that, the Chairmen Darryl Owens who as been dodging us and the issues for months now does not even appear to be scheduled to be there tomorrow, this man needs to go. The one good thing is this leaves us plenty of time to Lobby the legislators on all these issues, we already have Pink Slips on all the issues made up, Buttons for everyone to raise awareness about the issue while we are walking through the Capitol. I know this is not encouraging news but I hope everyone that planned on coming can still come to the Capitol and try and make a difference on these important issues we have been lobbing for during the session. We need to make one final push as there are only 2 Weeks left after this before bills go to the Governor. Because of the circumstances I have backed up the time for meeting to 8:00AM. Can you imagine how much it would freak these legislators if that many citizens came up there to lobby them.

If anything else we are laying the foundation for next year if we do not succeed. We must keep moving forward or they win.

Calling all Patriots!
SOVEREIGNTY STAMPEDE!
State Capitol Annex
Tuesday March 9th, 2010
8:00AM
Please RSVP ASAP so we can plan…if you have already don’t worry about replying again.
We now know that the House Elections Committee chair, Darryl Owens, is not willing to hear our 10th Amendment Resolutions and Bills. Individual phone calls, e-mails, and personal visits have not swayed him to give HCR 10, HCR 11, HB 380, HB 87 (The Kentucky Firearms Freedom Act) or HCR 13 (Second Amendment Resolution) a hearing. All of these are being held up in the same committee by the same man.

I know many of you wanted to testify in the committee and voice your support for any and all of these bills, but as it looks right now, they will all be dead if we do not take immediate action. So the time has come for us to ALL be in Frankfort in that committee on the same day in mass—wearing our pride for our Commonwealth, the Constitution (specifically the 10th Amendment) and our Rights, especially our Right to be heard!

March 9th at 7:30 AM, we will ALL meet in the Annex Cafeteria (basement) where we can pick up 10th Amendment and Firearms Freedom Act buttons to show support for our bills. We will also have fliers (“pink slips”) to hand out to EVERY legislator about each of these important issues. Once we have organized ourselves we will all go to the committee room and sign up to testify…even if it’s not on the agenda (I doubt it will be).

After the committee is over we will take the time to lobby our legislators and raise awareness on these issues. The bigger the crowd, the better, so please bring other family members or friends with you when you come!

In order to build support and or momentum for the Sovereignty Stampede, we need you to be writing about the issue… (Also keep in mind that many legislators don’t keep up with their e-mail. Hand-written letters are ideal.)

Some people to write are:

• Your State Representative and State Senator. That information can be found here: http://www.lrc.ky.gov/Legislators.htm
• Chairman of the House Elections Committee http://www.lrc.ky.gov/legislator/H043.htm – HB 87 The Kentucky Firearms Freedom Act; 10th Amendment Resolutions HCR 10, HCR 11, HB 380; 2nd Amendment Resolution HCR 13
• Chairman of the House Banking and Insurance Committee http://www.lrc.ky.gov/legislator/H027.htm – HB 307 The Healthcare Freedom Act
• Chairman of the Senate State and Local Government Committee
• http://www.lrc.ky.gov/legislator/S017.htm – SCR 43 The 10th Amendment Resolution – He is a co-sponsor but they want to know what support they will have when it gets to the House.
• Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee http://www.lrc.ky.gov/Legislator/S021.htm – SB 122 The Kentucky Firearms Freedom Act.
• Chairwoman of the Senate Veterans, Military and Public Saftey Committee http://www.lrc.ky.gov/Legislator/S010.htm SJR 109 anti-REAL ID Resolution – This is not exactly what we want but it is a step in the right direction that we need to capitalize on.
• Letters to the Editor about these issues in your local papers as well as the Herald Leader and Courier Journal- these make all the difference. The media scared a legislator on this issue last year, so let’s take advantage of that power.
• Blog about it where you can, Facebook it as much as possible
What to say?
We want this to be genuine and real, as personal letters are much more valuable than cut-and-paste forms. Please avoid making this a Republican/Democrat thing—that will turn off the House Elections Chairman, Darryl Owens, and a lot hinges on what happens in his committee.
