Mr Roth on Bunning
This is sad because this effects some friends of mine who will have their benefits cut. Sure Senator Bunning blocked the funding, but the real story, I think, is why wouldn’t Democrats look at the financially better (more conservative) option Senator Bunning offered to fund the needed extension? Why did the Democrats balk and play games with this? Why did they press to borrow even more money? And why did our press have to prove just how one-sided they are at reporting. Will we ever have an objective free press again? — Please pass this to others so this truth can be known.
Bunning Blocks Unemployment Extensions
“Dastardly, that’s what it is, dastardly” to steal a phrase once said by James Carville about Bush the First. No, not Jim Bunning’s vote to not approve borrowing money for extending unemployment benefits, but rather the coverage by the local TV and radio news, The Courier-Journal and the inaccurate rantings of Democrats on this issue interviewed.
What was dastardly was to not report how long Senator Jim Bunning had tried to get the Democratic committee to do the fiscally responsible thing and draw the money needed for these extensions from the unspent, already barrowed money lying in stasis from last year’s stimulus plan. What was dastardly was to not report the real viability of the Bunning proposal and how fiscally responsible it really is. What was dastardly was not reporting to any extent the truth that Senator Bunning does want to extend unemployment benefits. Oh how the propaganda machine worked so efficiently.
It is because Senate Democrats are hell bent in running us even farther in debt that they refused to look at this manner of funding. They looked to score political points over the needs of people and the fiscal needs of our nation. Furthermore the vote was delayed to the last minute to force like-minded Bunning fiscal conservatives who are facing reelection from doing the right thing for fear of political suicide. Senator Bunning does not have that fear since he is not running for reelection. Not a word in the local coverage displayed the right reasons for Senator Bunning’s actions or the fact that the Democrats could have prevented this vote from even taking place. Such partisanship in reporting is truly dastardly!
