letter re oil resources
letter from a reader (source not confirmed)
Dear President Obama and Members of Congress:
On 4/10/2008 the U.S. Geological Survey Office of Communication released an article
stating that there are 3 to 4.3 Billion Barrels of Technically Recoverable Oil Assessed
in North Dakota and Montana’s Bakken Formation 25 Times More Than their 1995 Estimate.
Senator Byron Dorgan of North Dakota is quoted as saying, “It is clear that the Bakken formation
contains a significant amount of oil – the question is how much of that oil is recoverable using
today’s technology?” “To get an answer to this important question, I requested that the U.S. Geological
Survey complete this study, which will provide an up-to-date estimate on the amount of technically
recoverable oil resources in the Bakken Shale formation.”
We also have read that 1,000 feet beneath the surface of the Rocky Mountains lies the largest untapped
oil reserve in the world estimated to be more than 2 TRILLION barrels. On August 8, 2005 President
Bush mandated its extraction. In three and a half years of high oil prices none has been extracted.
WHY??? If this is true then the U.S. has more than all the proven oil reserves of crude in the world
today.
Have you noticed that the price of gas continues to increase even though our economy sucks, unemployment
is 10%, you waste our tax money on Bail Outs, yet your big concern is to ram through your left wing Health
Care Bill that the people don’t want.
A response would be greatly appreciated.
Very concerned,
