Your Liberty is Our Interest

An open letter to Congressman John Yarmuth

Dear Congressman Yarmuth:

I need some advice.   I saw a beautiful house with a For Sale sign in the front yard.  I made an appointment to see the inside of the house and was interested in buying it.  There were about 20 things I saw wrong with the house – the roof had leaked in one of the rooms staining the ceiling and one wall, the water heater had a puddle under it, the faucet in the kitchen sink was dripping, etc. – and the person showing the house made notes of the things and said the owner would take care of them.  All I had to do was sign the papers.

The price on the house seemed to be a good deal, so I made an offer on the house because I was assured the things I found wrong would be corrected.  The offer was accepted and I signed the papers without reading them.  I received MY KEYS to the house.

When I went to my new home I discovered the repairs had not been made.  First I called the salesperson, but no one answered the phone.  When I called the seller, he informed me that he did not know what I was talking about and laughed at me.  I checked the papers I signed – there was no mention about the repairs.

Now….

What is the difference between buying this house and what’s going on in Congress with the Healthcare bill?

The Bill is For Sale; it looks good; the price quoted seems ok; there are some problems being put on a separate piece of paper to be corrected at a later date; and you, Representative John Yarmuth, want to sign your name on the dotted line.

What are YOU going to do after you sign the papers and then have to call the salesperson, Nancy Pelosi, and the seller, President Obama, about those repairs and they laugh at you for being so stupid because you did not read the contract before you signed your name on it?   How will you explain this to the voters?

Vote “NO” on the 2,000+ page Healthcare bill!  I, as a lifelong Democrat, will be voting my beliefs in November 2010.

Sincerely,

One of your constituents
